Bestselling Author Judith Miller Debuts Historical Series Set in West Virginia
Yearning for a fresh start, Ewan McKay travels with his aunt and uncle from northern Scotland to West Virginia, promising to trade his skills in the clay business for financial assistance from his uncle Hugh. Hugh purchases a brickmaking operation from a Civil War widow and her daughter, but it's Ewan who gets the business up and running again. Ewan seeks help from Laura, the former owner's daughter, and he feels a connection with her, but she's being courted by another man--a lawyer with far more social clout and money than Ewan. Besides, Ewan has resolved he'll focus on making the brickmaking operation enough of a success that he can become a partner in the business
and be able to afford to bring his sisters over from Scotland.
But when Hugh signs a bad business deal, all Ewan's hard work may come to naught. As his plans begin to crumble, Laura reveals something surprising. She and her mother may have a way to save the brickworks, and in turn Ewan may have another shot at winning Laura's heart.

About the Author

Judith Miller

Judith Miller

Judith McCoy Miller veteran novelist is the youngest of three children. She was born and lived in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for seventeen years. Shortly after graduating high school Judith and her husband Jim moved to Topeka, Kansas, where she works fulltime as a compliance analyst for the Kansas Insurance Department. They have four children, two boys and two girls.

Judith’s love of history influences her characters, their ethnicity, and the locale of her books. She says "I am consistently drawn to another time and place, yearning to tell the stories of forgotten voices from long ago and the impact of God's love and grace upon our country as it was shaped".

Judith started writing her first book while commuting sixty miles to work each day. She wanted to tell the story of a pioneer girl coming to Kansas and the faith that sustained her as she adjusted to a new life. When the book was completed, it was tucked away. Judith was introduced to Tracie Peterson who worked down the hall from her and Tracie gave her some pointers about what to do with the finished manuscript.

Her books include Woven Threads, Sleigh Bells, Changed of the Heart, A Trusting Heart, The Immigrants’ Chronicles, Kansas, and the Bells of Lowell series (the latter two are written with Tracie Peterson). She has contributed several novellas. "The Golden Cord" appears in China Tapestry, "Tales from Home" is part of The Storytellers’ Collection Volume 2, "The Blessings Basket" in Spring’s Memory, and American Dream.
